La collection D-Rose et sa saison MVP ! 🌹

3 years to reach the top and receive the league’s highest personal honor
We know D-Rose’s career is full of twists, unfortunately due to many injuries. At DearBBall, we primarily want to pay tribute to the kind player he has been throughout his career, especially his explosive start with his famous MVP title at age 22.

We tell you everything about these first 3 seasons and the D-Rose MVP chapter, forever in the big league history book 🌹:

D-Rose’s first three seasons in the big league were synonymous with success, showing the extent of his talent and incredible potential, evolving season after season. He was drafted first overall by Chicago in 2008, becoming the first player from the University of Memphis to be drafted first overall.
  • His first season was solid, with averages of 16.8 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game. He was named Rookie of the Year, showing his ability to quickly adapt to the professional level. It was only the beginning of his rise.

  • His second season that he was even more impressive for a sophomore, improving his stats by averaging 20.8 points, 6 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game. He was also selected for the All-Star Game for the first time (as well as the rookies game), marking the young point guard’s development.

  • But it was during his 3rd year that D-Rose was going to make history. Becoming the youngest MVP the league has ever seen, at just 22 years old… A stratospheric achievement for such a young player. He finished the season averaging 25 points per game, 7.7 assists, and 4.1 rebounds, leading Chicago to first place in the regular season with an impressive 62-20 record and guiding the team to the Eastern Conference Finals.
D-Rose’s first three seasons showed what kind of player he could be when spared from injuries. An MVP whose agility, speed, and ability to attack the basket were the keys to his success, as well as his capacity to involve and make his teammates play. A player and person loved by all.

During his MVP season in 2011, D-Rose was simply:
  • The youngest MVP in league history, dethroning Wes Unseld who was elected in 1969 at 23 years old.
  • The first Chicago player to receive this honor since the GOAT’s five-time streak between 1988 and 1998.
  • The fifth player in history to record at least 2000 points, 600 assists, and 300 rebounds in one season.
  • The seventh player in history to average 25 points, 7.5 assists, and 4 rebounds in a single season.
  • The first Chicago player to rank in the Top 10 for both top scorers (7th) and top assist leaders (10th) in the same season since MJ in 1989.

An MVP speech full of kindness and emotion
One of the most memorable moments of D-Rose’s career?

His speech at the MVP trophy award ceremony. He showed great emotion, in tears and struggling to speak. The Chicago street kid was very grateful to everyone who supported him to get where he is:

Starting by thanking his family, teammates, coaches, agent, fans, and the Chicago franchise. He expressed his gratitude to his parents who supported him throughout his life: "I know I haven’t always been easy to live with, but you believed in me, gave me love, and raised me in the right direction."
He also thanked his teammates for their support on the court, saying, "Without you, I wouldn’t be here today. You believed in me and worked hard every day so that we could be where we are now."
He spoke about the impact he wanted to have on the city of Chicago, saying, "I want to do something special for this city, I want to make this city proud of us." He also spoke about his mother, who recently passed away, paying tribute to her: "I know you’re up there watching me. I love you, Mom."

This moving speech from D-Rose shows, beyond the passionate and determined player he is, a person with a big heart. His gratitude towards his family, teammates, staff, and the city of Chicago was touching, showing that he never forgot the people who helped him reach his goals. These words also inspired many fans and basketball players, demonstrating that success doesn’t come without hard work, dedication, and appreciation for those who helped you along the way.

Wearing the D-Rose collection is also a powerful message you will share.
